I started student teaching this week, and in 7 days went from 210lbs to 202lbs. I really didn't do anything out of the ordinary, either. Starting next week, swimming laps a few times a week, and on the days I don't swim, I plan on doing some cardio. I hope that this works for me, because I've gained weight and need to be back on track. I already feel better and in is only 8lbs. I want to see how good I can feel if I lose more.

If any of you want to be awesome, my biggest problem with losing weight is that I lose motivation. I'm going to try and post weekly, just to keep my own mind on the goal, but any advice is welcome. :)

I think that was always the best motivation for me, the feeling that what you're doing is working. Even if I lose two pounds in a couple of days, I know that if I repeat that I'll lose more, and it can just keep going.

And I've found you also just feel more energetic if you eat healthily. Bad foods do make you feel more bloated and tired and bad about yourself, so if you're eating vegetables and fruits you just feel more accomplished and stronger.

(And as I'm doing my exercise I imagine myself as a supermodel walking the runway in some amazing clothes with my gorgeous boyfriend looking on...it helps)

I've got the same problem as you; after a week or so, I loose the motivation to get off the couch and get to the gym. I do my best when I have a friend that goes with me regularly. Then, even if I don't want to go, I feel like I have to because I don't want to be the reason they didn't go that day. Then once I actually get to the gym I enjoy myself. Maybe find yourself a workout buddy?

Ditto. If you've got someone else expecting you to meet up with them for some sort of physical activity, you're less likely to slack. At least I am.

I've lost four pounds in the last ten days. But that's because I'm eating smaller portions, eating less fast food, etc... But I bet all the stuff you do for student teaching (didn't you mention running errands?) is more physically active stuff than you were doing just sitting in class. :-)

Post weekly. It'll help me be motivated, too!! *\o/*

Student teaching is the ultimate diet. This is because small children are generally low in fat and taste positively scrumptious when slow roasted with broccoli crowns and asparagus spears.

Seriously man, student teaching wears your ass out and it's hella easy to lose a bunch of weight without any conscious effort on your part. Just focus your energy on running around like a crazy person all day and then collapsing from exhaustion as soon as you get home. Later, rinse, repeat for four months, and the scales will be reading negative numbers in no time!
